Replace your simcard before 1 July 2024
KPN moves with the times. So we can make sure everyone’s calls and internet are fast, safe and stable. Including yours. That’s why we shut down our 3G network. And why we’re shutting down our 2G network as well. To make room to improve 4G and 5G!
In preparation, we’re changing a few network settings on 1 July 2024. Because of this necessary change, your old simcard will no longer work. In the months of April, May and June 2024, these simcards are being disabled in phases.
Here’s what you can expect
2. Get your simcard in the mail
The simcard fits in your mailbox. So you don’t have to stay home.
Generally, you’ve got it in about 2 days.
3. Activate your simcard
Your simcard comes with clear instructions on activating it. You’ll get an e-mail with an activation code. Activated? Put your simcard in your device. The 3-in-1 simcard always fits!
Tip: saved your contacts to your simcard? Copy ‘em to your device first. Check out our
*) We’re doing our best to list all 4G/5G devices. Can’t find yours on the list? And aren’t sure if you can use our 4G and 5G network for calls? Ask the seller or manufacturer of your device.
Extra benefits with your new simcard
Make calls over wifi
KPN has a coverage of 99%. So you’ve always got reception. But your reception can be less strong in some buildings. Modern buildings with steel, concrete and double glazing, for example.
Bad reception indoors? Check if your device can make calls over wifi. Your phone will switch to the building’s wifi connection. And you’ll always have the best call quality.
Better quality
4G calling is available for more and more devices. It’s also known as Voice over LTe (VoLTE). With 4G calling, you’ll have better reception, your conversations will sound much more clear and it takes less time to start a conversation. So your connection is much faster and more stable during the call.
