KPN fiber available to six million households
Six million households have access to KPN fiber, KPN announced today during the presentation of its third-quarter 2026 results. Together with Glaspoort, KPN has achieved this coverage, with the fiber connection already extended into the utility cabinets of nearly five million households. This places the Netherlands among the European leaders in the availability of ultra-fast internet.
The number of households with access to KPN fiber, including via Glaspoort, grew to 6.025 million over the past year. By now, 80 percent of these households are connected to the fiber-optic network. In recent months, KPN has placed greater emphasis on connecting homes to meet the growing demand for fiber.
KPN is investing heavily in further expanding its fiber network and, in doing so, in the digital infrastructure of the Netherlands. Fiber offers high and stable internet speeds, with uploads just as fast as downloads. This is becoming increasingly important for activities such as working from home, video calls, cloud applications, sharing large files and gaming.
Joost Farwerck, CEO at KPN: “With fiber available to six million homes and businesses, we have reached an important milestone. Together with Glaspoort, we will continue to expand the network while also making progress in connecting homes and activating new fiber lines. In doing so, we are continuing to build a reliable, future-proof network for the Netherlands.”
