KPN customers better protected with sovereign email service

KPN Mail and Cloud offers extra protection against online threats, storage within Europe, and retention of trusted email addresses.

Today, KPN is introducing a revamped email and storage service that allows customers to better protect their emails, files, and personal data. KPN Mail and Cloud combines data storage within the European Union with additional security measures, such as standard two-step login and protection against phishing, viruses, and other online threats. Customers retain their existing email address.

Online risks such as phishing, scams, and identity theft are on the rise. That is why KPN is renewing its email service with extra protection against online threats, data storage within Europe, and standard two-step login. Customers retain their trusted email address and gain more control over the security of their digital communication.

"For many customers, their email address is the key to their digital life. They use it to stay in touch with family and friends, but also for banking, online accounts, and communication with the government. With KPN Mail and Cloud, we are adding extra layers of security, storing data within Europe, and ensuring that customers can keep their trusted email address," says Robin Clements, Commercial Director of Consumer Market at KPN.

Data within Europe

An important feature of KPN Mail and Cloud is that emails, files, contacts, and calendars are stored and processed within the European Union. As a result, data is subject to European privacy regulations, and customers benefit from the protection offered by these regulations.

Extra protection against online threats

KPN Mail and Cloud helps customers better protect themselves against online threats. Two-step login is a standard part of the service: customers log in with their KPN ID and an additional verification code. This distinguishes KPN Mail and Cloud from email services where two-step verification is available but not enabled by default.

In addition, KPN Mail and Cloud include the latest filters against phishing, viruses, malicious websites, and software. These filters help identify suspicious messages, links, and attachments before they can cause harm. No single security measure can eliminate all online risks, but the combination of filters and standard two-step login helps customers better protect their digital lives.

Trusted email address will be retained

For existing users, much will not change either. Customers will keep their current email address, and their emails, contacts, and folders will safely transfer to the new email service. KPN will guide existing customers step by step through the transition to the new platform so that they know what is changing and what they need to do themselves. Customers who need additional help with this can visit a KPN store or turn to SeniorWeb volunteers in community centers and libraries, in addition to KPN customer service.
