Waterschap Rivierenland is a governmental institute, responsible for water management in a large part of Holland; especially the large rivers are their concern. Their expertise is not wireless communication and management of the wireless network, but to make sure that Holland is not overflowed with water. For controlling pumping installations remotely, there was a need for a highly reliable wireless network, managed by professionals. The request was not only the supply of hardware and SIM cards, but to be responsible for the complete network.
The customer was looking for a total solution for the connectivity, so they approached RAAF Open Systems B.V., a Business Partner of KPN to look into providing this for them. RAAF not only supplied the hardware (wireless routers) but also a state of the art Infrastructure as a service, a Platform as a Service and a Software as a Service solution. In supplying the complete solution as a Cloud computed service, the responsibility for the wireless network was handed over to KPN and RAAF Open systems B.V.
The customer didn’t want to worry about the wireless connections, and was looking for economic benefits like low initial costs. That and the proven combined technology and skills of KPN and RAAF where the main reasons choosing for this solution. With this solution, the water management enters a whole new era of technology like cloud computed control of water.
