In 2007 KPN had ten main brands for fixed and mobile telephony, internet, television, desktop management and wholesale. Click on one of the brands below for a short description, the target group and special features.

KPN is active in various markets in the Netherlands and serves various target groups with several different brands. Consumers can come to KPN for fixed and mobile telephony, internet and TV services. KPN offers corporate customers a broad range of national and international services ranging from voice, internet and data services to total management of outsourced ICT services such as desktop management.

On 31 December 2007 KPN served more than 35 million customers in many different markets: 27 million for wireless services, 5.5 million for fixed lines, 2.7 million for broadband Internet and 0.5 million for TV. In the Netherlands 5.4 million customers with a fixed telephone connection, 9.3 million mobile customers, 2.6 million internet users and 0.5 million TV viewers. KPN has subsidiaries in Belgium and Germany - BASE and E-Plus, whose roles as mobile operators are continually increasing in those countries and they are succeeding in attracting loyal customers.

Activities

With fixed and mobile telephony, internet and television, KPN offers private customers a broad range of services in the areas of communication, information, amusement and commercial service. KPN plays a prominent role in developing innovative IP services, such as Interactive TV and the combined internet and telephone package InternetPlusBellen (IPB). The Consumer Market division is responsible for strategy, products & services, marketing, distribution, sales and business development in this market in the Netherlands.

Strategy

KPN customers want to be able to communicate and have access to information and amusement at any place, any time. This explains why the marketing strategy's guiding principle for the consumer market is that KPN markets brands that are relevant to specific customer groups. The focus is not the technology, but on the wishes of the customers.

Activities

KPN provides total ICT solutions for corporate customers ranging from small companies to big multinationals. KPN also enables quick and safe access to information possible regardless of time or place and invests in technology that enhances the capacity and speed of mobile internet. KPN uses personal advisers to inform businesses of the possibilities. They ensure that voice, data, fixed and mobile are fully integrated. With applications for health care, education and safety, KPN products and services have a social relevance as well.

Vision

KPN's corporate customers realize that communication is becoming ever more important. So this is why the Corporate Market division thinks and works from the customer's perspective and needs. KPN fulfils that strategy by developing and offering innovative and reliable ICT solutions. The takeover of Getronics in the second half of 2007 has considerably strengthened KPN's position in the market as a desktop administrator in one fell swoop. In the Benelux countries KPN has become the market leader three years earlier than planned.

Activities

Wholesale & Operations (W&O) is responsible for KPN's operating activities, the networks in the Netherlands (Fixed and Mobile), the wholesale customers and the KPN portfolio in the Netherlands. This division is tasked with connecting customers to KPN's products and services - varying from broadband internet and television to telephony (fixed, mobile or voice over IP). In the national wholesale market KPN supplies access services to customers including telecom operators, service providers and resellers. In the international market KPN supplies wholesale voice and data services worldwide. Within Operations, KPN Real Estate is responsible for managing and selling KPN's real estate in the Netherlands.

Vision

The year 2007 was dominated by preparations for the rollout of the All IP network in the first half of 2008. Construction of the first All IP telephone exchange was completed in Rotterdam in the fourth quarter. The aim of the All IP strategy is to connect all six million households to the fiber optic network by 2010. The acquisition of a majority stake in iBasis (a global provider in the field of VoIP) and the amalgamation of KPN's international wholesale voice services with those of iBasis have created a combination that is among the five largest in the world. In addition, the W&O division is preparing to roll out the UMTS network for KPN Mobile and Telfort.

Activities

Through E-Plus and BASE, KPN is the challenger in the Belgian and German mobile markets and offers corporate and private customers a genuine alternative to the traditional dominant providers in those countries. KPN's international service provider Sympac supplies mobile communication services to enterprises with branches in various countries. All the mobile wholesale activities in the Netherlands and elsewhere operate within the activities of Mobile International.

Vision

With their various brands, E-Plus and BASE each focus on different customer segments by offering innovative and affordable mobile services. These enable customers to once again choose the products and services they consider most relevant and attractive. Mobile International also collaborates with other enterprises, enabling them to offer mobile services under their own label. Well known brands of partners include Medion Mobile (Aldi Talk) in Germany, Debitel (Germany and the Netherlands), AH Mobiel (the Netherlands), Carrefour (Belgium) and Ortel (Belgium and the Netherlands)
