Haaglanden fire service chooses KPN

On 28 November Wim Deetman, mayor of The Hague, and KPN CEO Ad Scheepbouwer sign a ten-year contract for the supply of Public Emergency Response Center Systems (known in Dutch as OMS) to the Haaglanden regional fire service.

OMS links more than 1370 locations, such as office buildings, convalescent/old people's homes, hotels and schools to the Haaglanden regional fire service's emergency response center. All these locations in the Haaglanden region are scheduled to be linked to the Haaglanden regional emergency response center by the end of 2008.

Reliable and "future-proof"

The contract between the Haaglanden regional emergency service and market leader Siemens expires at the end of 2007. The Haaglanden regional fire service has chosen the KPN system because it more than meets the strict requirements imposed by OMS. For example, the system, which was developed by KPN and ASB Security, reports an incipient fire reliably and quickly, enabling the fire service to respond rapidly and adequately. Another benefit of OMS is that false alarms are minimized.

Because it is IP-based, the system is "future-proof". This enables KPN to operate more services via the DSL connection, including surveillance camera systems, triple play (internet, television and telephony) PIN-code payments through IP.

The system developed by KPN and ASB Security, reports a any developing fire reliably and quickly, enabling the fire service to respond rapidly and satisfactorily.
