Forrester report recognizes KPN as innovative player in European WAN services market

KPN International is one of the most innovative providers of WAN services in Europe. Independent technology and market research agency Forrester establishes this in their recently published report ‘The Forrester Wave: European WAN services, Q2 2008’. Forrester concludes that KPN goes a step beyond other European providers with the launch of a combined IP and Ethernet service on its network.

The study was conducted among 12 providers of Multi Protocol Label Switching (MPLS)-based WAN (Wide Area Network) services. Forrester identifies the trend that large providers are now working with converged services that offer flexible access to IP VPNs, Ethernet and Internet via a single point of access. This results in lower access costs and simple migration between the various services. KPN goes even a step further: With its combined IP and Ethernet service, KPN International offers a unique and innovative extra in comparison to the other providers.

KPN International ranked as innovative provider
Carolien Nijhuis, Managing Director of KPN International: “We are pleased to be recognized as an innovative provider, in part due to our new NGN VPN service (Next Generation Network). NGN VPN is the future platform to accommodate all connectivity needs for enterprises in a single environment by combining ubiquitous availability of IP with the scalability of Ethernet. We offer our clients high-quality, future-proof network solutions in 22 European countries and across 180 countries worldwide. In addition we invest in emerging markets such as in Turkey, Eastern Europe and Africa, new service features and support systems. This results in the recommendation of Forrester that KPN “merits consideration for an enterprise network.”

About the study
Forrester conducted customer reference evaluations of 12 leading providers that offer MPLS-based WAN services and a wide range of other data services in Europe. The providers were assessed on 62 criteria such as the current offering, strategy and market presence.
