KPN has established a dedicated team to address the growing requirement for Machine to Machine (M2M) mobile communication solutions. The KPN Group will market a coherent suite of M2M services for multinationals as well as for companies with local, national or international operations.
KPN has furthermore deepened its partnership with Jasper Wireless, the leading M2M service platform provider. As part of the partnership, KPN becomes Jasper Wireless’ preferred network operator for Europe and exclusive network operator in Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands and KPN will extend its current international Managed M2M solution to E-Plus and to KPN Group Belgium. This enables companies throughout Germany and Belgium as well as the Netherlands to take advantage of the deployment speed and scale made possible with the KPN Managed M2M solution. In addition, KPN has made an equity investment in the Sunnyvale, California based company.
Machine to Machine services enable automated remote communication. Their application in areas such as smart metering, track and trace and consumer electronics is viewed as one of the most interesting growth areas in the mobile communications market. Bundling its knowledge and experience in one dedicated M2M team will enable the KPN Group to more effectively serve the needs of customers across its territories.
In recent months, companies including Garmin International Inc. and Konica Minolta Europe have selected KPN and Jasper Wireless to supply pan-European managed M2M services.
