For a long time now, when choosing products and services, KPN has taken account of the extent to which suppliers observe the standards for waste disposal and the use of dangerous substances and packaging. Since 2008 KPN also evaluates whether suppliers are adhering to the requirements in the area of human rights and labor conditions and the safety of the consumer and whether they use production methods that have a minimal environmental effect. The standards used by KPN can be found in the Supplier Code of Conduct. Our principal suppliers have signed this code of conduct.
KPN’s internal Code of Ethics is made up of our core values: personal, simplicity and trust. These core values form the basis of our daily activities and are implemented in all our business processes and external contacts. The Supplier Code of Conduct translates our CSR policy to the chain. Our code of conduct is based on the values laid down in the United Nations Charter and the core treaties of the International Labor Organization.
The code of conduct is part of our purchasing procedure, for example when selecting suppliers. Aspects relating to sustainability are also reviewed expressly in the annual evaluation of the relationship with suppliers. As a result, from 2009 it will be possible to update developments related to suppliers annually.
