Energy saving At KPN

We are always looking for ways to save energy and reduce CO2 emissions. Our biggest areas of energy consumption are our networks and data centers. The migration to a single new platform and the switch from analogue to digital networks resulted in energy savings of 38 GWh in 2010. We are installing an energy-efficient cooling system at our data center in Haarlem which should reduce energy consumption by 40%. This system will be operational by late 2011. In 2010, we saved 12.5 GWh on customers' modems and TV tuners. We used 10% less energy in our offices. Also, our vehicle fleet became greener: every KPN vehicle has an economical A, B or C label coupled with a limit for CO2 emissions. Moreover, we promoted the use of public transport.
