KPN intends to expand its own retail network in the Netherlands with a total of 52 new shops in 2010. The company has reached an agreement in principle with Dexcom Retail BV, which has indicated that it will shut the shops which it exploits in the t for telecom chain. KPN will open the new shops under its three main brands KPN, Telfort, and Hi.
This expansion will give Telfort and Hi shops coverage throughout the Netherlands. The expansion furthermore fits KPN’s strategy of increasing customer intimacy. Customers increasingly desire personal service and advice regarding telecom, internet and TV services. Shops of the various KPN brands are specifically designed to provide this.
After the expansion, KPN will have 105 KPN shops (currently 98), 55 Hi shops (up from 29) and 53 Telfort shops (now 35).
The planned expansion is subject to approval from the Dutch competition authority.
