The Board of Management of KPN intends to appoint Joost Farwerck (46) per 15 February to the new position of Managing Director The Netherlands. The Board furthermore intends to make Godert Vinkesteijn (46) CFO for The Netherlands.

These appointments follow the Board’s stated aim of strengthening its positions in its home market through an accelerated investment strategy. In 2012, KPN aims to stabilize market share in Consumer wireless and keep the Business market share stable, while it is expected that the broadband market share will bottom-out with an improving underlying cost structure as outlined during the presentation of the company’s 2011 annual results on January 24.

CEO Eelco Blok: “We have set out our clear plans to strengthen the Dutch businesses in 2012 and Joost will lead those initiatives. I have full confidence that KPN will emerge from this transition year as a stronger company. We aim to generate sustainable profit levels in The Netherlands from the end of 2012, supporting our strategic “Strengthen, Simplify and Grow” ambitions for the period to 2015.”

Joost Farwerck began his career at KPN in 1994 and has extensive experience in both the commercial and network side of the Dutch business, having headed Wholesale & Operations for several years as well as in his current Executive Committee role as Director of Consumer Residential.

Fellow KPN Group Executive Committee member Godert Vinkesteijn joined KPN in 1991 and has many years’ experience as a senior financial executive at KPN, having held the post of CFO of KPN Mobile B.V. and subsequently was CFO of E-Plus Gruppe in Germany between 2008 and 2011. He has detailed knowledge of both KPN’s successful Challenger strategy as well as the wireless and wireline activities in the Netherlands.
