Starting in 2002 KPN Mobile International (BASE and E-Plus) has been transformed into a very profitable and growing mobile operator. The successful business model has been leveraged to Spain and France in 2008-2009.
E-Plus Germany was launched in 1993 and became part of KPN Group in 2000. E-Plus is the successful Challenger network operator with own brands and partners. As of the end of September 2011 E-Plus served more than 22 million customers and had about 2.700 employees.
KPN Group Belgium is part of KPN Group as of 1998. KPN Group Belgium is the successful Challenger network operator (BASE) with own brands and partners. As of the end of June 2011 BASE served 3.9 million customers and had 800 employees.
In 2008 KPN Spain was launched as a MVNO, offering mobile services through own brands and partners. KPN Spain is the leading MVNO in Spain.
“Rest of world” has other brands and companies targeting specific customer segments across markets. For example KPN became full owner of Ortel Mobile in 2009.
