KPN announces the introduction of MSN Hotmail on i-mode in the Netherlands, which will allow i-mode™ customers from KPN and its youth-brand Hi to access their MSN Hotmail account anytime, everywhere. i-mode provides MSN Hotmail customers with a convenient way to keep in touch with friends, family and colleagues on the move. Subscribers only pay the standard i-mode monthly fee of € 7,50 to send and receive almost unlimited e-mails. Prepay customers pay for their usage from their i-mode credit. Sending or receiving one Hotmail e-mail costs prepay customers approximately 2 euro cents.
MSN Hotmail on i-mode is fully featured and allows customers to retrieve, read, answer, forward and of course also delete messages. Customers also have access to their MSN Hotmail address book and personal folders and can take advantage of a new feature that allows them to call contacts from their MSN Hotmail address book.
Ludolf Rasterhoff, Manager Consumer Marketing at KPN Mobile: "With i-mode, we are trying to seamlessly link the internet and the mobile phone. MSN Hotmail on i-mode is another good example of this. You can now e-mail anyone you want to, anywhere in the world, with your mobile phone."
"Every i-mode customer with an MSN Hotmail account in the Netherlands can now enjoy the convenience of free Hotmail on the go, which fits today’s popular and busy lifestyle,” said Joost Nienhuis, country manager of MSN Netherlands at Microsoft Corp. “This relationship is another great example of MSN investing in bringing customers closer to the people and information that are important to them, regardless of the time, place or device."
Youth-brand Hi is marking the introduction with a special introductory MSN Hotmail package, which includes a handset, discounted call package and i-mode access and of course access to the free Hotmail service. The handset included in the package is the Samsung S410i, KPN's newest i-mode handset.
i-mode forms the world's largest mobile internet community, with more than 50 million users worldwide, of whom more than 5 million outside birthplace Japan. As of 31st March 2005, KPN had approximately 720,000 i-mode customers in the Netherlands. They can now choose from more than 250 services from some 200 national and international content providers.
