Kim Bybjerg joins Sympac as head of Marketing & Sales

Den Haag, 12-6-08

Former Orange vice-president believes Sympac concept is best way for multinational companies to gain control over their national and international mobile communications.

The Hague, 10 June 2008 - Sympac, Europe’s first “one contact, one contract” international mobile service provider, has appointed Kim Bybjerg as Director Marketing & Sales.

Mr Bybjerg, 45, is a leading figure in the telecommunications field with some 20 years’ experience in the IT and telecom sectors. Beginning in Siemens’ telecommunications business, he then moved into IT at IBM. He returned to the telecom world when he moved to Equant (now Orange Business Services), where he worked for nine years. Prior to joining Sympac, Mr Bybjerg was Vice President, Emerging Markets at Orange Business Services.

The appointment of the Danish-born Mr Bybjerg brings another big hitter to Sympac, a stand-alone business unit within Dutch telecoms provider KPN. Mr Bybjerg’s strong business and executive management skills, developed in cross-cultural and international organisations, make him a great addition to the fast-growing Sympac team. They also make him the ideal sparring partner for Sympac’s existing and potential customers – diverse, internationally oriented medium and large enterprises with operations that cross multiple borders.

Control and optimise

“I know from my previous role that there is a big need for the Sympac concept among multinational companies,” Mr Bybjerg said. “Sympac offers them the opportunity to consolidate all their mobile communications from HQ, regional, national, cost-centre and other perspectives. Most companies don’t even know what they spend on mobile communications. Those that do don’t know why, how or where their data traffic is increasing.”

Mr Bybjerg sees gaining control and optimising costs as being the key mobile communication issues facing multinational companies today – knowing how much they are spending, on what and where. And it’s what attracted him to Sympac. Having watched the company grow from start-up, in 2005, to established player now, Mr Bybjerg says he is impressed by both the Sympac concept and how it has been developed and implemented to the benefit of customers. “Other telecom companies wanting to offer this kind of service have to work through their own national operators, which have their own profit and loss accountabilities. Sympac is separate from that. Sympac is a kind of virtual organisation, so we do not have the ‘conflict of interests’ that hamper other operators.

“Sympac is ahead of its competitors in terms of being able to offer one contact, one contract and one bill, and in terms of the advanced management services it offers. It is important we stay ahead and keep on developing our offering to the benefit of our customers. In particular I see opportunities to make our role and position in the value chain clearer, to extend our footprint even further, and to communicate more about the benefits of moving to Sympac.”
