KPN is to acquire Gemnet B.V. and 50% of shares Gemnet CSP from Gemnet Holding B.V., a holding company of which the shares are held by VNG diensten B.V. (VNG) and N.V. Bank Nederlandse Gemeenten (BNG). Getronics PinkRoccade remains owner of remaining 50% of shares Gemnet CSP B.V.. Gemnet B.V. shares have been delivered last Friday. Transfer of the 50% stake in Gemnet CSP BV will be completed after approval from the Europrean Commission.
Gemnet offers services to governments and civil society organizations to exchange electronically (confidential) information. Beside data exchange via a closed and fully secured network, the activities of Gemnet aim to support professionals within the public sector with dedicated information and electronic communication services.
The acquisition is in line with KPN’s strategy of strengthening its position in the public sector and to increase its efforts in providing integrated ICT-solutions.
Gemnet is located in The Hague and employs 25 employees. The turnover over 2005 amounted to about 13 million Euro.
