Getronics reduces personnel costs to maintain profitability goals

KPN subsidiary Getronics is reducing personnel costs, as a pre-emptive measure to maintain profitability goals. The ICT service provider will reduce its total staff of about 14,300 FTE by 1,400 FTE. Some 950 FTE are own staff, of which about 700 are located in the Netherlands.
The workforce reduction is driven by an increased cost focus and by current market circumstances. The measure is intended to accelerate efficiency improvements in order to maintain profitability goals and achieve the strategic ambitions.
The workforce reduction is expected to be finalised by mid 2009 and the annual savings are expected to amount to about EUR 60 mn. The possibility of compulsory redundancies cannot be excluded. The relevant works councils have been informed.
